Making the WSP80 WX-compatible

To convert a WSP80 in order to connect it to a WX power supply unit, similar to the WXP80, two possibilities are given. These are:

  1. Adapt and recreate the additional electronics which is built into the WXP80. This has the advantage that there is no software programming required, but requires some circuit design similar to that of the WXP80. For this approach see here.
  2. Use a single microcontroller which emulates the I2C components in the soldering iron and acts as an AD converter as well. An additional opamp is required to bring the voltage level of the PTC to suitable levels. The circuit is very simple but requires software development and extensive testing. For this approach see here.
